What is Creative Springboard?

The Creative Springboard Programme is one of the three projects under the Inclusive Enterprise Programme – in a nut shell it is a new and unique programme designed for creatives who want to start or grow their business and become more digital.

Having given some shape to your business idea and defined the foundations for its development, by attending this Creative Springboard programme you will have the chance to:

  • boost your confidence – developing your strengths to develop your business
  • identify your customers – truly understand your market
  • explore traditional and non-traditional marketing techniques – knowing how to reach your customers and consumers effectively
  • financial forecasting and access to finance – planning your finances and knowing where to get some extra cash from
  • know legal bits – your rights, your legal obligations and some hints & tips
  • think digitally – industry experts teaching you about digital marketing, branding & social media

Creative Springboard has partnered with CUE Business Solutions to offer you workshops on Social Media, Digital Marketing & Branding, plus you will have follow on 1-2-1 sessions from Coventry University Enterprises Business Solutions to help with the foundation of your brand, your digital marketing & social media.

Part of being a participant of the Creative Springboard programme, you will join our exclusive ‘creative & digital’ community – joining our ‘meet-up’ group made up of those who have attended our Creative Warwickshire programme and industry experts – we meet every 2 months to share experiences and business opportunities, to network, to collaborate etc.

Plus you will have access to our quarterly Masterclasses & Networking events – we host a series of events with different topics and guest speakers which will also be open to the general public. The classes will feature inspirational talks from key leaders from across the UK.

Why are you running this programme?

Leamington Spa has just been identified as one of the top 20 Creative Clusters in the UK (‘The Geography of Creativity’, NESTA/Creative England, 2016). This programme will contribute to the continuing development of the sub-region as a powerhouse of national activity. Programme participants will have access to sector experts, both to mentor start-ups and to develop the capacity of established companies with ambitions to grow.

What is on offer?

Following on from the 1st FAQ, the key aspect to this project is offering you hands-on support with a practical approach throughout the vulnerable early stages of starting and developing a creative business.

Briefly the programme comprises:

6 x training workshops

Day 4: Branding & Digital Marketing

 

Day 5: Social Media

 

Day 6: Finance & Legal

 

 

3 x 1-2-1 sessions with Focus Digital    Coventry University Enterprises Business Solutions are offering you an extra 3 hours of one to one support for your business to help with the foundation of your brand, your social media and digital marketing

Who can apply?

The programme is open to businesses (or those wishing to start up in these sectors) from the following sectors:

Advertising & Marketing, Architecture, Crafts, Design: product, graphic & fashion design, Film, TV, Video, Radio, Photography, IT, Software & Computer Services, Publishing, Museums, Galleries & Libraries, Music, Performing & Visual Arts.

And who fulfil all of the following criteria:

  • You aged 18 or above
  • Have not started trading or have been trading for less than 12 months
  • Are based in Warwickshire – living or running a business in Warwickshire
  • You must be going to set up or running a business of a creative nature – anything to do with being creative: performance, visual arts, culture, creative technology, design, craft, gaming, web development, software development, etc.
  • Can commit to the Creative Springboard course dates as set out below

Creative Springboard is for all creative individuals and businesses based in the county and we particularly welcome applicants from groups who are under-represented in the sector, such as women, ethnic minority businesses, entrepreneurs with disabilities and senior start-ups.

What experience do I need to have?

We are looking for creative individuals and businesses who are looking at ways to turn their hobby/business idea into a real money-making business or wanting to grow their existing business through the support of specifically tailored workshops, peer to peer support and advice from industry experts.

What we are looking for is how the support of the Creative Springboard programme is right and timely for YOUR personal and business development so that it empowers you to develop yourself and your business, take risks and create work that contributes to the creative and digital scene of Warwickshire and beyond.

If you apply for the programme, please send supporting material to show us the calibre and quality of your previous work (if applicable) – this could be links to online portfolios, web links, catalogues, brochures or whatever you think will support your case most effectively. (Remember: sometimes less is more!)

What other criteria are you looking for?

Participants on the programme will need to be:

  • self-motivated and independent individuals;
  • people with vision, initiative, flair and verve;
  • in whom it is possible to have confidence in their ability to deliver work;
  • people with passion, creativity and determination to pursue their business idea or take their business to the next level.
What does it cost and how can I apply?

The programme is free. The investment required from you is your time, energy and commitment to documenting your learning and insights.

All you have to do to apply is fill out the simple application form, send it through along with your CV to the IEP Creative Springboard team by the deadline date and we will let you know whether you are eligible to attend.
